Filtrine Manufacturing Company, now in its 5th generation of family ownership, has developed many water filtration, drinking water and chiller firsts. It continues to foster the culture of innovation today. As business has grown, Filtrine has moved from Brooklyn to Waldwick, NJ, Harrisville, NH and is currently located in Keene, NH.
Peter Hansel, President (at the time, now Chairman of the Board) of Filtrine, said, “We wanted to mark 100 years of ownership by getting the word out about what is Filtrine. To do this, a video (see History) was created along with a company history wall installation (see the video) in our large conference room. Both highlight “Filtrine Firsts” such as the first filtered chilled water filling station and the storage type water cooling system.”
Hansel ownership began when Charles Hansel, a sheep shearer turned engineer, bought Filtrine (located in a garage in Brooklyn, NY) in 1918 from a druggist, George Kneuper. Kneuper founded Filtrine in 1901 after devising a water filter medium he called “filtrine” which removed particles by molecular attraction.
Since then the product line has grown to include chillers and drinking fountain equipment. Filtrine is committed to building the highest quality, most durable products in the US engineered to fit customers’ applications, for many years to come and is ISO 9001:2015 Certified.
