Using a Time Switch Control – Filtrine Electric Water Coolers and Remote Chillers Only Run When Needed
Filtrine has always been on the cutting edge of drinking water solutions. Since 1901, Filtrine has innovated with efficiency and sustainability in mind. Staying on top of local regulatory changes and sustainability initiatives is also key.
The DCRA Green Code is part of the District of Columbia’s Green Building Act code requirements passed in 2006. It is overseen by the Green Building Division of the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). Filtrine worked with a DC engineer to add a requirement for a time switch control in Filtrine’s electric water coolers to the building specs to be in compliance with the Green Code. It shuts off a Filtrine Model FC or FCC electric water cooler or remote drinking water chiller/purifier at night when the building is not occupied. Energy saving of up to 50% can be realized with the timer option installed, helping the environment and saving money. The competition does not offer this feature at this time.
How does it work? The controller is programmed to run the electric water cooler or remote chiller Monday through Friday from 6PM-6AM.
But that’s not all, Filtrine’s sustainable energy saving electric water cooler features include the controller and more:
The Elements of an Eco-Friendly Filtrine Electric Water Cooler
1 | All stainless steel (more than 75% recycled content) or bronze, NO PLASTIC |
2 | Stainless steel purifier housing and an easily replaceable carbon element purifier that removes lead, particles and pathogens |
3 | Time switch controller shuts off unit when not in use for energy savings |
4 | “Ozone safe – low GWP” 513A refrigerant |
5 | Fully built in the US with mostly US parts |
Green Specifying Tip: Add Filtrine’s eco-friendly drinking water electric water coolers into the specs for your green construction projects. Use this wording “Water dispensers that utilize energy to cool or heat drinking water shall be controlled by time switch controls.”
